With the exception of the college level courses, all of the correspondence courses offered are "popular" in nature. This means that satisfactory completion of these courses does not entitle the student to monetary or academic benefits other than those inherent in the study itself. This by no means minimizes the benefits to be obtained from a consistent and regular study of the scriptures. When a student successfully completes one of the correspondence courses, that student is entitled to a credit certificate giving the details of the completion and number of credits earned. In addition to these credit certificates, certificates are also awarded when the student accumulates multiple units of credit. These are awarded as 12 unit levels. More details can be obtained directly from Emmaus.

The Emmaus correspondence courses are used worldwide. They are available in more than 90 countries overseas, in more than 116 languages. Over 16 million courses have been distributed worldwide. The Emmaus courses are used widely in Canada in many settings. They are used for individual study, for group study, for outreach, for work with inmates in jails and prisons, and many other forms of discipleship. For those with pressing responsibilities, they provide a less expensive alternative to attending Bible School full time.
